Accessible animal enclosure

Back

This duo enclosure for Chiliflamingos and Humboldt penguins is conceived as one large walk-through aviary divided into two sub-areas with the visitor's path between them. This path starts from a higher vantage point and proceeds to an exit shaft on the north side of the site. The meandering path is blended in with plantings, rock formations and gabions with benches. The penguins can come right up to the path and thus have optimal contact with visitors, this creates a playful atmosphere within the pavilion. Each sub-area has a specific landscaping adapted to the natural habitat of the bird species. In addition to the 2 outdoor enclosures, there is another indoor enclosure for the flamingos and the lookout for visitors with the technical room for the water treatment plant in its basement.
